Inventory

Why some inventory items cannot be deleted

Understand the danger zone, linked invoice lines, linked bill lines, linked sale lines, and why Bizwazi protects historical records.

Bizwazi may block permanent deletion for inventory items that are already linked to business records. This protects your invoice, bill, sales, stock, and reporting history.

Why deletion can be blocked

  • The item is linked to invoice lines.
  • The item is linked to bill lines.
  • The item is linked to sale lines.
  • The item has stock movement history.
  • The item is needed for old reports.

What the danger zone means

  • The danger zone explains whether permanent deletion is available.
  • If permanent deletion is not available, Bizwazi shows the linked record counts.
  • This is designed to protect old business records from breaking.

What to do instead of deleting

  • Mark the item inactive.
  • Update the description to explain it is no longer used.
  • Set the low stock alert level appropriately.
  • Keep the item for history but stop treating it as normal active stock.

Example

  • If Weetabix has one linked invoice line, one linked bill line, and one linked sale line, permanent deletion is blocked. Mark it inactive instead so old records remain safe.
