How to use Fastest-moving items
Find the products selling fastest by quantity and use the information for restocking decisions.
Fastest-moving items shows which products are selling fastest by quantity. This is slightly different from Most sold items by KSh because an item can sell many units but still have a lower total sales value.
What it shows
- Item name.
- SKU or item code.
- Unit.
- Quantity sold.
- Sales value.
- Number of sales.
Why it matters
- Fast-moving items can run out quickly.
- They may need higher low-stock alert levels.
- They may need more frequent supplier orders.
- They are often everyday products customers expect to be available.
How to use it
- Check the fastest-moving items before ordering stock.
- Increase low-stock alert levels for items that sell quickly.
- Avoid waiting until stock is almost finished.
- Compare sales value with profit margin before buying too much.
Difference from Most sold by KSh
- Fastest-moving focuses on quantity sold.
- Most sold by KSh focuses on sales value.
- A cheap item can be fastest-moving but not the highest-value item.
- An expensive item can be highest by KSh even if only a few units sold.
Example
- A shop may sell many packets of milk every day, making milk a fast-moving item. But a few sales of cooking oil may produce more KSh value. Both reports are useful for different decisions.
