How to create an invoice
Use Create invoice when you need to bill a customer for goods or services. An invoice can include customer details, issue date, due date, inventory items, custom services, notes, discounts, payment instructions, and a live total.
Steps
- Open Business from the bottom navigation, then open Invoices, or open Invoices directly where available.
- Tap Create invoice.
- Select an existing customer, or choose Add new customer instead.
- Choose the invoice status, usually Draft while preparing it.
- Check or change the issue date.
- Add a due date if the customer should pay by a specific date.
- Add invoice items from inventory or as custom products/services.
- Enter descriptions, quantities, and unit prices.
- Apply a discount if needed.
- Add invoice notes if the customer needs extra information.
- Check the invoice summary.
- Tap Save invoice.
Choosing a customer
- Use an existing customer when the customer is already saved.
- Add a new customer if this is the first invoice for them.
- Customer details help with follow-up, emailing, WhatsApp sharing, and debt tracking.
Choosing dates
- Issue date is the date the invoice is created or issued.
- Due date is when the customer should pay.
- If there is no fixed deadline, the due date may be left blank depending on your workflow.
Good invoice habits
- Use clear item descriptions.
- Set a realistic due date.
- Check the customer name and contact details.
- Check the total before saving.
- Use payment instructions so the customer knows how to pay.
