How invoice numbers work

Understand preview invoice numbers and final invoice numbers.

Bizwazi shows a preview invoice number while you are creating an invoice. The final number is assigned when you save the invoice.

What the preview number means

  • The preview number gives you an idea of the number the invoice may receive.

  • The format shown on the page is similar to INV-YYYY-MM-0001.
  • The final number is assigned when the invoice is saved.

Example

  • If a customer pays by M-PESA and includes the invoice number in the reference, you can search the number in Bizwazi and record the payment against the correct invoice.
