How invoice payment history works

Understand payment history, editing payments, deleting payments, and linked sales records.

Payment history shows all payments recorded against an invoice. It helps you understand when the customer paid, how much they paid, which method they used, and whether the payment was added to Sales.

What payment history shows

  • Payment date.
  • Payment amount.
  • Payment method.
  • Account.
  • Reference.
  • Whether it was added to Sales.
  • Notes where available.
  • Edit and Delete actions where allowed.

Editing a payment

  • Use Edit when the amount, date, method, account, reference, or note is wrong.
  • After editing, check the invoice balance again.
  • If the payment was added to Sales, check that the linked sales record still makes sense.

Deleting a payment

  • Deleting a payment increases the invoice balance again.
  • If the payment was added to Sales, deleting it can also remove the linked sales record.
  • If stock was deducted through the linked sale, stock may be restored where applicable.

Important warning

  • Do not delete payments casually. Payment changes affect invoice balances, sales records, stock movement, reports, and account balances.
