How to record mixed payment sales
Handle sales where a customer pays using more than one payment method.
Sometimes a customer may pay partly by Cash and partly by M-PESA or Bank.
Simple approach
- Record separate sales for each payment account if needed.
- Use clear notes to explain that the payments belong to the same customer purchase.
Example
- If a customer pays KSh 600 cash and KSh 400 by M-PESA, record one Cash sale for KSh 600 and one M-PESA sale for KSh 400, with notes explaining the split.
Why this helps
- Cash and M-PESA balances stay accurate.
