Sales
How received into Cash, M-PESA and Bank works on sales
Understand why choosing the correct account matters when recording sales.
Every sale must be received into an account. In Bizwazi this usually means Cash, M-PESA, or Bank. This choice is very important because it affects account balances and end-of-day checks.
What each account means
- Cash means physical cash received by the business.
- M-PESA means mobile money received by the business.
- Bank means money received into bank or card-related account records.
Why the account matters
- A Cash sale increases the expected cash balance.
- An M-PESA sale increases the expected M-PESA balance.
- A Bank sale increases the expected bank/card balance.
- If the wrong account is chosen, total sales may look correct but account balances may be wrong.
- Wrong account choices can create false discrepancies on the Dashboard.
Example
- If a customer pays by M-PESA but the sale is recorded as Cash, the Sales total may still be correct, but the Cash balance will be too high and the M-PESA balance may be too low.
Useful tips
- Check the payment method before saving.
- Use account filters later if you need to review only Cash, M-PESA, or Bank/Card sales.
- If you entered the wrong account, edit the sale if it is editable.
