How to search and filter expenses
Learn how to find expense records using search and filters.
The Expenses page includes a search box and filter button so you can find records quickly. This is useful when you have many expenses across different accounts, categories, and dates.
Using search
- Type into the Search expenses box.
- Search can help find an expense by category, note, bill reference, supplier name, or other saved detail.
- Use short search words if you are not sure of the exact wording.
- After searching, check the list heading to see what is being shown.
Using filters
- Tap Filter to open the filter panel if available.
- Filter by account when you only want Cash, M-PESA, or Bank/Card expenses.
- Filter by category when you want to review spending such as Transport, Rent, Wages, Stock/Supplies, or Utilities.
- Filter by period when you only want Today, This week, Month to date, Year to date, Since start, Last 30 days, or a custom range.
- Clear filters when you want to return to all expenses.
Common uses
- Use account filters before checking why Cash, M-PESA, or Bank/Card balances changed.
- Use category filters to review one type of spending.
- Use date filters to find an old receipt or payment.
- Use search to find a bill reference, supplier payment, or note.
