Cash Control & Discrepancies
Why M-PESA and Cash can both look wrong at the same time
Understand how one wrong account choice can make two balances incorrect.
Cash and M-PESA can both look wrong when a transaction is entered under the wrong account.
Example: M-PESA sale recorded as Cash
- A customer pays KSh 1,000 by M-PESA.
- The sale is accidentally recorded as Cash.
- Cash looks KSh 1,000 too high.
- M-PESA looks KSh 1,000 too low.
Example: M-PESA withdrawal not recorded
- You withdraw KSh 5,000 from M-PESA into Cash.
- The transfer is not recorded.
- M-PESA may look too high.
- Cash may look too low.
How to fix it
- Find the transaction.
- Correct the account or add the missing transfer.
- Review both balances again.
