Why Bizwazi asks for start balances
Learn why the dashboard asks for opening Cash, M-PESA, and Bank balances.
Start balances tell Bizwazi how much money was in Cash, M-PESA, and Bank at the start of the trading day. Without start balances, Bizwazi cannot properly calculate what the end balances should be.
What to check
- Enter the real Cash amount at the start of the shift or trading day.
- Enter the real M-PESA amount at the start of the shift or trading day.
- Enter the real Bank/Card amount at the start of the shift or trading day.
- Save the start balances before relying on discrepancy checks.
- After start balances are saved, Bizwazi can add sales, subtract expenses, include transfers, and estimate expected end balances.
Useful tips
- Enter start balances before the business becomes busy.
- Use the actual money, not a guess.
- If start balances are wrong, the end-of-day discrepancy may also look wrong.
