How to link a supplier to inventory stock
Linking suppliers to inventory helps you know where stock comes from. This is useful when items run low, when you need to reorder, when you want to see stock value by supplier, or when you want supplier records to show connected stock items.
What supplier-to-stock linking means
- An inventory item can have a preferred supplier.
- The supplier page can then show that the supplier has linked items.
- The supplier card can show stock cost value and stock retail value for linked stock.
- Supplier profile pages can show linked inventory items.
- Inventory reports can use supplier links to explain where stock comes from.
How to link stock to a supplier from the inventory item
- Open Inventory.
- Find the stock item.
- Tap Edit.
- Find Preferred supplier.
- Choose the correct supplier.
- Save the item details.
How to link stock from the supplier profile
- Open Suppliers.
- Open the supplier.
- Use Add inventory item if you want to create a new stock item connected to that supplier.
- Use Edit supplier or edit the inventory item if you need to connect an existing item.
Why linking stock is useful
- You can quickly see which supplier is responsible for which items.
- You can review low-stock suppliers.
- You can review top linked suppliers.
- You can see which inventory items are not linked to any supplier.
- You can prepare supplier orders faster.
- You can avoid forgetting where an item came from.
Example
- If Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml is supplied by Mombasa Wholesale Suppliers, link that inventory item to the supplier. When the item becomes low stock, the supplier page can help you see who to contact.
