Sales, categories and inventory

When to use a normal sale instead of Sell from inventory

Choose the right sales method depending on whether stock should reduce.

Use a normal sale when you want to record income but do not need Bizwazi to reduce stock.

Use Sell from inventory when you are selling a product that exists in your inventory and the stock quantity should reduce.

Use a normal sale for

  • Services
  • Labour charges
  • Delivery fees
  • Consultation fees
  • Repairs where you are not tracking parts
  • Sales where stock does not need to change

Use Sell from inventory for

  • Products you stock
  • Items with quantities
  • Goods you want to track
  • Products where low-stock alerts matter

Real-world example

A garage charges KSh 1,500 for labour and sells one set of brake pads.

The labour charge can be a normal sale under Repairs or Services.
The brake pads should be sold from inventory so stock reduces.

Main benefit

This prevents stock from being changed when it should not be, while still recording all income.
