Sales category versus inventory item
A sales category and an inventory item are not the same thing.
Sales category
A sales category is used for reporting. It tells Bizwazi what type of sale it was.
Example:
- Groceries
- Repairs
- Drinks
- Salon services
Inventory item
An inventory item is the actual product you keep in stock.
Example:
- Olive Oil 1L
- Rice 2kg
- Phone Charger
- Brake Pads
- Shampoo Bottle
Real-world example
If you sell Olive Oil 1L, the inventory item is Olive Oil 1L. The sales category could be Groceries.
Simple rule
Inventory item = the product whose stock changes.
Sales category = the group used in reports.
Main benefit
This keeps stock control and reporting clear.
