Sales, categories and inventory

Example: garage using sales categories and inventory

A practical example for mechanics and repair businesses.

A garage may sell labour, repairs, and spare parts. Bizwazi can help separate these clearly.

Suggested sales categories

  • Labour
  • Repairs
  • Spare parts
  • Diagnostics
  • Other income

Normal sale example

A customer pays KSh 1,000 for diagnostic labour. This can be a normal sale under Diagnostics or Labour.

Sell from inventory example

A customer buys brake pads or an oil filter. If those parts are in inventory, use Sell from inventory so the stock quantity reduces.

Combined example

A customer pays for:

  • Labour: KSh 2,000
  • Oil filter: KSh 800

The labour can be recorded as a normal sale.
The oil filter can be sold from inventory under the Spare parts category.

Main benefit

The garage can understand service income separately from parts income and avoid running out of important stock.
